Mental Health Network
In 2006, SCHA-MI started a new networking group specifically for the mental health staff in school-based and school-linked health centers and programs. The Mental Health Network is a network of mental health workers from Michigan's school-based and school-linked health centers. Most participants are social workers working in elementary, middle and senior high schools.
Supported by the School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan, quarterly meetings are held at the SCHA-MI office. The purpose of these meetings is to network with each other, share information about what is working in centers, and discuss challenges related to providing mental health services in school-based health centers. The meeting agendas are set by the previous meeting generally and often times feature a guest speaker. Meetings are limited to 25 people and run from 10:00am-2:00pm with lunch included.
Next meeting: June 19, 2008, 10am-2pm, Substance Abuse
Past topics: Medicaid Billing, Advocacy, Confidential Services, Group Therapy Sessions and Evidence Based Curriculum and Forms.
